The Drug Advisory Council of Australia comments-
These drug imports were designed to flood the Australian market with illicit drugs like ICE, Speed, ecstasy and the date rape drug GBL.
Australia is a clear target for illicit drug imports by international criminal groups because of its high demand for illicit drugs.
There are no clearly defined national targets in Australia to substantially reduce the drug using population.
There are not enough Australian drug rehabilitation programs to reduce the number of illicit drug users.
There are not any Australian court ordered and supervised detoxification and rehabilitation programs.
Without a clear commitment to reduce the demand for illicit drugs and the number of illicit drug users the supply of drugs will continue in record quantities.
Australia NEEDS a comprehensive and effective NATIONAL illicit drug prevention and rehabilitation system that REDUCES demand.
More detoxification & rehabilitation that gets illicit drug users drug free.
Court ordered and supervised detoxification & rehabilitation.
Less illicit drug users, drug pushers and drug related crimes.
