ADDICTS NEED REHABILITATION
The United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime has recently released its latest World Drug Report.
The Office supports drug rehabilitation as the first priority of reducing demand for illicit drugs.
The Office concedes that drug addiction is an illness and that treatment not jail is the preferred course of action by civil authorities.
Amphetamines, ICE, ecstasy and other synthetic illicit drugs are increasingly being used in the world.
Cannabis is the most used illicit drug in the world and there is growing evidence of increased harm from cannabis use.
The Office accepts that the best way to reduce demand for illicit drugs is to get addicts off drugs.

DRUG ADVISORY COUNCIL COMMENTS-
The United Nations has supported our council’s position that addicted illicit drug users should be placed in rehabilitation.
Detoxification and rehabilitation to a drug free condition should be the desired outcome for those addicted to illicit drugs.
Australia must now increase its drug rehabilitation programs to get addicts of drug use quickly and permanently.
Maintaining addicts on a drug use regimen is not as effective to the addict, their family and the community as the potential for relapse is higher because a drug use is maintained.
More detoxification & rehabilitation that gets illicit drug users drug free.
Court ordered and supervised detoxification & rehabilitation.
Less illicit drug users, drug pushers and drug related crimes.
