Pregnant drug addicts can pass on the drug dependency to their unborn children.

This drug dependency to an unborn child can lead to organ and brain damage.

DRUG ADVISORY COUNCIL COMMENTS-

These admissions of damage to unborn children from drug addicted mothers have been made to justify addicted females being sterilized.

Whilst few can justify consequences for an unborn child as being a legitimate reason for sterilization, the admission of medical damage to unborn children is truthful.

Yes born children of drug addicts cause the addiction of the child in the womb.

Yes these new born children need intensive medical care to handle drug withdrawal.

Yes organ and brain damage can occur for the baby as it can for the mother.

This is another reason why Australia should adopt world's best practice of diversion into rehabilitation for identified drug users.

Also this diversion will reduce the pool of drug using Australians so reducing the risk to any unborn children.

In fact, in Sweden illicit drug policy is strongly inculcated into secondary students to prevent illicit drug use before child bearing age.

Illicit drug demand must be reduced by court ordered and supervised rehabilitation so as to protect future unborn children.

THE DRUG ADVISORY COUNCIL OF AUSTRALIA SUPPORTS-

More detoxification & rehabilitation that gets illicit drug users drug free.
Court ordered and supervised detoxification & rehabilitation.
Less illicit drug users, drug pushers and drug related crimes.
