Keeping Drugs Illegal
Keeping drugs illegal is one of the best ways of keeping drugs out of the hands and brains of children.
Young people that don’t use illicit drugs are influenced by the fact that they are illegal.
Keeping a child drug free until age 21 eliminates drug use in adulthood and its subsequent addiction.
Normalizing, de-stigmatizing and legalizing illegal drugs lowers their price and increases their use.

DRUG ADVISORY COUNCIL COMMENTS-
Recent surveys show overwhelming support from Australians to keep illicit drugs illegal.
The illegality of cannabis, heroin, cocaine, ICE, amphetamines and other illicit drugs does discourage use and the harm to users.
Early intervention drug prevention programs to children to dissuade drug use are proven internationally to prevent drug use in adult life.
Reduced illicit drug use makes our roads, workplaces and public spaces safer and eliminates drug related crime and funds for criminal networks.
Identified illicit drug users should be directed into court supervised drug rehabilitation that has as its specific objective of getting users off drugs quickly and permanently.
Court ordered drug rehabilitation is value for money as it prevents continued drug use and is used by other countries to reduce drug use and prevent new crime.
THE DRUG ADVISORY COUNCIL OF AUSTRALIA SUPPORTS-
More detoxification & rehabilitation that gets illicit drug users drug free.
Court ordered and supervised detoxification & rehabilitation.
Less illicit drug users, drug pushers and drug related crimes.
