United Nations wants Drug Demand Reduced
The United Nations Office of Drugs & Crime has requested all governments including those in Australia to do more to curb demand for illicit drugs.
In highlighting drug use around the world, the UN Office focused on developed countries as fueling the demand for illicit drugs such as cocaine, cannabis and heroin.
Cocaine use by addicted educated, professional celebrities in developed countries is funding criminals and terrorists that are part of the drug suppliers.
Opium production in Afghanistan has recently reduced but may surge again as lawlessness by the Taliban has increased.
The Office claimed that the harmful characteristics of cannabis are no longer much different from other plant based drugs such as cocaine and heroin.
There is mounting evidence linking cannabis use with mental illness.

DRUG ADVISORY COUNCIL COMMENTS-
The UN Council has stated that Australia has the highest consumption of Ecstasy in the world.
Reducing demand for illicit drugs by a substantial reduction in the number of users MUST be a key priority of Australian governments.
United Nations policy is that illicit drug users need court ordered and supervised drug detoxification and rehabilitation programs to substantially reduce demand and the number of users.
THE DRUG ADVISORY COUNCIL OF AUSTRALIA SUPPORTS-
More detoxification & rehabilitation that gets illicit drug users drug free.
Court ordered and supervised detoxification & rehabilitation.
Less illicit drug users, drug pushers and drug related crimes.
