TEACH OUR CHILDREN TO SAY NO TO DRUGS

Sweden has a restrictive drug policy based on preventing children from trying drugs.

In Sweden all political parties agree that –

·         The objective of all Government policies must be a drug free society

·         Parents are the best educators and can teach their children to say no to all drugs better than anyone

·         The Government must help parents to teach their children by funding positive parent support programs against any use of drugs

·         Schools must teach students to say no to drugs, from commencement to end of schooling, in an identical way to parents

·         Government education policies must teach students to resist peer pressure in every subject in the curriculum

·         Teachers must be trained to teach students to develop attitudes that are opposed to any drug use

·         Schools must teach that all illegal drugs are dangerous to health, shorten life or cause death

·         Schools in cooperation with parents, must provide positive programs to detoxify and effectively rehabilitate students who are drug users

·         In Sweden only 6% of females and 9% of males in the 15 – 25 age group have ever tried illegal drugs, in Australia it is 52%
